The Idaho Sustainability and Energy Coalition (ISEC) was founded on a simple but powerful idea: communities, citizens, and non-profit organizations deserve access to the same high-quality technical expertise that shapes major energy and infrastructure decisions.
ISEC began as the vision of Stephanie Walsh, founder of Walsh Engineering services in Idaho Falls. Through her professional work, Stephanie saw firsthand how technical expertise is often missing and how inexpensive and free access can change economic outcomes. She also recognized that communities and local organizations often lacked access to that same level of expertise when decisions directly affecting them were being made.
ISEC was created to bridge that gap.
Rather than operating as a traditional advocacy organization, ISEC was designed as a nonprofit platform where engineering, science, and community needs could come together. The goal was to provide low cost and free technical support at the community level—support that is accessible, reliable, and grounded in local values.
Today, ISEC continues to grow as a trusted nonprofit resource for Idaho communities navigating energy, sustainability, and environmental challenges—carrying forward its founding vision of technical excellence in service of the public good.
ISEC's vision is a clean, healthy, and economically sustainable Idaho that protects the quality of life we have enjoyed for many generations.
Our mission is to help Idaho industries, communities, and citizens take meaningful actions toward an environmentally and economically sustainable future.
